Biography
Dr. Melike Saraç is an associate professor at the Hacettepe University, Institute of Population Studies, Department of Social Research Methodology. She has been working at the same department since 2014. She graduated from the Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics in 2012. She also completed her minor degree at the Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science, Department of Business Administration in 2013.
She received her Master’s degrees from the Ankara University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Mathematics in 2015, and the Hacettepe University, Institute of Population Studies, Department of Social Research Methodology in 2016. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Social Research Methodology in 2021. She has also completed the Sampling Program for Survey Statisticians, Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan as a Kish fellow in 2021. Moreover, she has worked in certain nation-wide household surveys conducted by the Institute of Population Studies such as Research on Domestic Violence against Women in Turkey (2014), various migration surveys (2015-2016), and the latest Turkey Demographic and Health Survey (2018). Her research interests include survey methodology, survey quality, nonresponse, interviewer and respondent characteristics, data quality, quantitative data analysis, sampling design, respondent selection techniques, social desirability bias, and mismeasurement of survey responses.
She has published and co-authored articles in International Journal of Social Research Methodology, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, Journal of Biosocial Science and Quality & Quantity. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology (JSSAM) and is a reviewer college member of the IJSRM.
