Assoc. Prof. SEVİNÇ GELMEZ BURAKGAZİ

Dr. Gelmez-Burakgazi completed her doctorate in the Department of Educational Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction at the Middle East Technical University, where she worked as a research assistant, in 2012. During her doctorate education, she was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA for 1 year and attended courses in the departments of "Curriculum and Instruction" and "Science and Society" in addition to her doctoral thesis research. Receiving a TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) scholarship with the Doctoral Scholarship Program during her doctoral education, Dr. Gelmez-Burakgazi was supported by the World Bank during her work in the USA. With her doctoral thesis titled "Connecting Science Communication to Science Education : A Phenomenological Inquiry into Multimodal Science Information Sources among 4th and 5th Graders", she was awarded the METU Thesis of the Year award by the METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation. Gelmez-Burakgazi, whose research interests include teacher education, curriculum fidelity, education for sustainable development, science and society, has been working in Hacettepe University Department of Educational Sciences since 2014 and she received the title of Associate Professor in the same discipline in 2021.

With the title of "Honorary Senior Research Associate", Dr. Gelmez Burakgazi has been conducting research at UCL (University College London) since 2022.
