She is a neuroscientist specialising in brain biophysics with a strong focus on neuropsychiatric applications. Her research investigates the neural mechanisms underlying sensory perception, emotional responses to stimuli, emotion recognition, and emotion regulation strategies in healthy brains, using EEG-based measures of neural complexity and brain network connectivity. Her work encompasses both task-based and resting-state EEG investigations to characterise intrinsic and stimulus-evoked cortical dynamics.
She examines how alterations in large-scale brain network organization and cortical dynamics reflect psychological states and neuropsychiatric disorders, and how these changes can be leveraged as biomarkers for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and pharmacological follow-up. Her research integrates innovative experimental paradigm design with advanced EEG signal processing, stochastic modelling, and graph-theoretical network analyses to study functional brain organization.
She serves as an article editor for Frontiers in Psychiatry: Computational Psychiatry, Frontiers in Neuroscience, Frontiers in Psychology: Cognitive Science and acts as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals in experimental psychology, neuropsychiatry, and neuroscience.
