Biography

She is a neuroscientist specialising in brain biophysics, computational neuroscience, and neuropsychiatric applications of electrophysiological methods. Her research focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying sensory perception, emotional processing, emotion recognition, and emotion regulation in the human brain through EEG-based measures of neural complexity and functional brain connectivity.

Her work integrates task-based and resting-state EEG approaches to characterise intrinsic and stimulus-evoked cortical dynamics, with a particular emphasis on large-scale brain network organisation and alterations in neural communication patterns associated with psychological states and neuropsychiatric conditions. She investigates how changes in functional brain architecture can contribute to the identification of reliable neurophysiological markers for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and precision-oriented clinical applications.

Her research combines innovative experimental paradigm design with advanced EEG signal processing, computational modelling, stochastic approaches, machine learning, and graph-theoretical network analyses to investigate functional brain organisation across health and disease. Her methodological interests include optimised connectivity estimation, network-based biomarkers, and data-driven approaches for characterising neuropsychiatric phenotypes.

She serves as an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio)  She also contributes as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals in neuroscience, experimental psychology, computational psychiatry, and neuropsychiatry.
