Selda Ozdemir is a full-time professor in the Department of Special Education at Hacettepe University, Turkey. She earned her BA in Psychology from Ankara University and later completed her master’s degree in the Special Education Program at Syracuse University in New York. She received her PhD in Early Childhood Special Education from Arizona State University, US. Her research primarily focuses on designing early intervention programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and implementing eye-tracking technology. Dr. Ozdemir’s research areas also include machine learning and explainable AI. She has extensive clinical experience in identifying early diagnostic markers and developing novel treatment targets in ASD, as well as providing psycho-social interventions for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders.
Dr. Ozdemir has completed two TUBITAK 1001 - COST Scientific Research Projects and she is currently leading a TUBITAK 1001 research project. She has also served as an advisory board member for TUBITAK, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, under the Innovative Solutions in Social Sciences and Humanities Research Projects Funding Program. Since 2016, she has been a member of the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK) Primary Education and Special Education Diploma Equivalency Adaptation Commission. Additionally, she is a member of the Hacettepe University Research Committee and numerous other academic and administrative committees at Hacettepe University.
