Prof. VOLGA BAYRAKCI TUNAY

Prof. Dr Volga Bayrakcı Tunay is a sports physiotherapist and a full-time professor at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation (Ankara, Türkiye). She has long-standing experience in physiotherapy education, research, and international academic coordination. She received her BSc (1993), MSc (1997) and PhD (2001) degrees in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation from Hacettepe University. Her doctoral research focused on the effectiveness of rehabilitation in patellofemoral joint alignment disorders. Her research focuses on sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation, injury prevention, decision-making for return to sport, and functional/performance testing. In recent years, her work has emphasised athletes, muscle strength, ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral pain, and return-to-sport outcomes. Dr Tunay has been serving on a scientific committee of the Turkish Ministry of Health, developing physical activity programs for preschool, schoolchildren, and adults to promote the health of the Turkish people.Recent international collaboration (last 5 years) - Rizzoli (Bologna, Italy):
Prof. Tunay has been actively collaborating with IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (IOR) through joint research and academic partnership activities. Her recent outputs include work related to patellofemoral pain assessment and the use of technology/biomechanics in evaluation. She is married and has a son.
