Terken Baydar graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy as a pharmacist (BSc). She got both of her Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in pharmaceutical toxicology at Hacettepe University in 1993 and 1999, respectively. As a post-doc researcher, in 2000 she has been in Medical School of Albert Szent-Györgyi International University located in Szeged, Hungary, Public Health Department for 3 months with exchange programme (code 2227) of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) for studying behavioral toxicity and neurotoxic effects of aluminum and folic acid. She gained Turkish Council of Higher Education Associate Professorship Document in toxicology in 2004.
She has been working as a full-time professor in Hacettepe University since 2010. She is a European Registered Toxicologist (E.R.T.) and has been this title since 2011.
Prof.Baydar is the Pharmacist Board Member of the Hacettepe University Geriatric Sciences Research and Application Center (GEBAM) since 2003. She has International Programme of Geriatrics and Gerontology Certificate by International Institute of Ageing and Society of Turkish Geriatrics. She has worked as the chair of the Hacettepe University Lifelong Learning Center (HÜSEM) from 2006 to 2012. She has also worked in National Adaptation Commission of European Pharmacopeia 8.0 between 2010 and 2016.
Her scientific research areas are pteridines, mycotoxins, safety drug usage and adverse drug reactions, phytotoxicology, toxicity of inorganic compounds, health effects of nutrients, and interactions of supplements. Prof. Baydar has worked as Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Hacettepe University from August 2, 2016 to March 30, 2021. She is married with two children and also head of Academy of Pharmacy, Turkish Pharmacists' Association.
