Prof. ŞAHAP ARMAĞAN TARIM

Biography

Armagan Tarim is a Full Professor and the Chair of Business Analytics at Hacettepe University in Turkey. He also serves as the Vice President for Research and Innovation and as the Director of the Institute of Informatics at the same institution.

Professor Tarim received his Ph.D. in Operational Research from Lancaster University, UK.

He has previously worked in the Department of Computer Science and as a member of the Artificial Intelligence Group at the University of York, the University of Nottingham Business School, University College Cork’s Cork Constraint Computation Centre, the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics, and the Business School at UCC.

He has also served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Social Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Population Studies at Hacettepe University. Additionally, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey’s Humanities and Social Sciences Group, Chief Advisor to the President of the Turkish Court of Accounts, and an executive committee member of the SMEs Development Organisation of Turkey.

Professor Tarim has secured over €5 million in research funding as a Principal Investigator. His research has been supported by research councils, universities, various ministries and government agencies, and industries such as electric power generation and distribution, healthcare, hospitality, telecommunications, banking, oil, and transportation, among others.

Professor Tarim's current research interests include business analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), stochastic modeling, production and inventory systems, and supply chain management.
