Abstract

The aim of this study is determination of level and characteristics of students reading habits in Department of Persian Language and Literature of Tabriz University of Iran. This Research includes 64 students that they studied at last year in Department of Persian Language and Literature of Tabriz University of Iran. According to the results obtained from investigation of answersheets in 2011, mostly "middle-level readers" are students who were reading books that were related to their educational courses, preferring qualitative literary books that mostly were borrowed from the library and they were studying in first opportunity. Studied sections had moderate effect on reading habits. Students often used the university library's books for research purposes. Female students had better status than male student in both of studying and using of library.
