Abstract

The various types of lung cancer each have unique properties and their cells show specific changes in molecular regulatory control mechanisms. Each type has mutations/amplifications/over expression of several oncogenes, mutations or loss of cancer suppressor genes, increased telomerase activity and loss of chromosome 3p. These molecular genotypic changes are discussed with regard to the unique phenotypic characteristics of human lung cancers.
