Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal how popular culture is militarized and the reasons behind this militarization process. For this purpose, the four most influential areas of daily life in the US, which are entertainment, shopping, media and education, where popular culture is dominant, were examined. Hence, the Military-Entertainment, Military-Shopping, MilitaryMedia and Military-Academy Complex were discussed. It has been claimed that the US achieved its military goals by revealing the undiscovered militaristic feelings in popular culture under ‘digital camouflage’. As a result, the military interventions are justified by developing militaristic way of thinking and therefore, popular culture is used as an important propaganda tool.
