Abstract

Yenicaga Lake is under the threat of human activities such as overexpansion of settlements and drainage of irrigable lands. It is also subjected to industrial, domestic and agricultural pollution. The aim of the study is to produce the basic limnological data that are required for sustainable development plans of the lake and its surroundings. Thus, the physical and chemical characteristics of the lake and the dominant phytoplankton species were investigated from October 1997 to August 1999 in monthly intervals.
