Abstract

The adsorption of Zn(II) on chitin and chitosan was investigated. The results were given in terms of adsorption rates, amount of adsorbed material per unit weight of adsorbent at equilibrium and efficiency. The Langmuir model provided the best fit with experimental and predicted values for the sorption of Zn(II) ions onto chitin, while the best fit for chitosan was obtained by using the Freundlich model.
