Özet

Although the Turkish Simuliidae fauna is not well known, Crosskey and Zwick (2007) reported 40 species from Turkey. We evaluated the literature on Simuliidae in Turkey and its neighbouring countries to form a baseline for future studies. In addition to 45 species that have already been found in Turkey, we draw attention to species that exist in the neighbouring countries and that could occur in Turkey with differing degrees of probability using a similarity matrix. The number of such species that could potentially exist in Turkey shows that more extensive research on the Simuliidae of Turkey is needed to complete its blackfly faunal list.
