Abstract

Inspired by the ideas of Gestalt and the practice of meditation, this paper describes an approach to bring together the corresponding techniques to teach data visualisation, a subfield of information literacy whose importance will considerably grow within the years to come. The course can be subsumed under the motto that data, (i.e., everything that is given), is the basis of meditation and that data visualisation in its essence is a meditative process. The paper should be seen as a return-of-experience based on a case study that shows how both techniques intertwine almost naturally and can mutually benefit from each other.
