Abstract

PurposeLiver diseases like nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, and chronic hepatitis B are the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide. At present, there is no effective treatment available in the therapy of such clinical conditions. Acupuncture is a long-established treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In recent years, increasing evidence has pointed to the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic liver diseases.Recent FindingsPrevious reviews have not discussed the effects of acupuncture therapy on liver diseases, but a certain degree of progress has been made in the study of related mechanisms.
