Abstract

There may be visualization of activity in the soft tissue structures on a bone scan. Soft tissue activity may be secondary to any process that evokes soft tissue calcification (dystrophic, metastatic, or heterotopic calcification). It may also be due to binding of the radiopharmaceutical to macromolecules in the tissue. The authors describe two rare patterns of soft tissue uptake observed on the Tc-99m-MDP bone scans of two patients.
