Abstract

Three rare methoxyflavonoids, rhamnazin 3-O-rutinoside (1). rhamnocitrin 3-O-rutinoside (2) and isorhamnetin 3-O-rutinoside (3), were isolated from the methanolic extract of Pinaropappus roseus together with 2 well-known flavonoids, quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (=rutin) (4) and kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside (5). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of UV.. ID and 2D NMR and FAB-Mass spectral analysis. Free radical scavenging activities of the isolated compounds were also demonstrated. This is the first report on the chemical composition of the genus Pinaropappus.
