Abstract

We report a rare case of necrotizing fasciitis of the abdominal wall caused by Hungatella effluvii and Streptococcus constellatus. Necrotizing fasciitis has high mortality, so early diagnosis and aggressive treatment are essential for good clinical outcome. Identification of the microbial contribution to these infections is crucial for targeted antibiotic treatment. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
