Stage 1 involves cervical dila on, ending with full dila on. Stage 2 covers the period from full dila on to birth, and Stage 3 from birth to placenta expulsion. Stage 1 includes the latent phase (0–6 cm) and the ac ve phase (6 cm to full dila on). Oxytocin (Synpitan) is commonly used to accelerate labor, with two protocols: high-dose (4–10 mU/min) and low-dose (1–4 mU/min). Methodology This retrospec ve study analyzed deliveries at Hacett pe University Hospital between January 2018 and May 2024. Pa ents who had amniotomy at 6 cm dila on and started oxytocin at the same point were included. Pa ents with spontaneous rupture or who received other medica ons were excluded. Time intervals between 6 cm to 10 cm, 10 cm to birth, and 6 cm to birth were compared using the Mann-Whitney test for both primigravids and mul gravids. A p-value < 0.05 was considered signi cant. RESULTS: Out of 1000 pa ents, 121 primigravid and 131 mul gravid par cipants were analyzed. Among primigravids, 43 received high-dose and 73 received low-dose oxytocin. Among mul gravids, 67 received high-dose and 64 received low-dose. No sta s cally signi cant di erences were found between high-dose and low-dose groups for any of the me intervals in either primigravid or mul gravid groups. Discussion The study found no signi cant di erence between high-dose and low-dose oxytocin protocols. Given the higher risk of complica ons with high-dose oxytocin, low-dose oxytocin is recommended.
