Though used frequently in everyday life, it is a challenging task to define the term '' information". Different disciplines define information within the scope of their respective fields of study. Its definition is open to change not only for different disciplines, but also in the face of time. Information is classified under various genres according to its formation, quality, impact, and field of application. This study provides a closer look at "information" within the perspective of information management, information science and other disciplines. Moreover it deals with diverse types of information derived from such perspectives.
