The title compound is a centrosymmetric, linear, homotrinuclear nickel(II) complex and has been characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex is monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n, with a = 13.707(4), b = 13.455(2), c = 14.620(3) angstrom, beta = 101.300(2)degrees, V = 2644.1(10) angstrom(3) and Z = 2. The central and terminal nickel( II) ions have distorted octahedral geometry with a Ni center dot center dot center dot Ni distance of 3.047(1) angstrom.
