Özet
Objective: To evaluate the impact of teeth whitening procedures on esthetic perception, psychosocial well-being, smile satisfaction, and oral health-related quality of life among Generation Z individuals. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study included 43 Generation Z individuals who had undergone teeth whitening at a university-based dental clinic. Psychosocial status related to dental esthetics was assessed using the PIDAQ, while oral health-related quality of life was evaluated using the OHIP-14. Demographic characteristics, social media behaviors, and patient satisfaction were assessed using a researcher-developed questionnaire. Statistical analyses were performed using appropriate parametric and non-parametric tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Teeth whitening positively influenced esthetic perception and psychosocial well-being. Significant improvements were observed in self-confidence, smile perception, teeth color satisfaction, and overall smile evaluation following the whitening procedure (p < 0.05). Participants also demonstrated an increased willingness to share their smiles on social media (p = 0.016). Overall, whitening procedures were associated with positive psychosocial and esthetic outcomes among Generation Z individuals. Conclusions: Teeth whitening positively influenced smile perception, psychosocial well-being, and oral health-related quality of life among Generation Z individuals.
