Abstract

Background. Shunt infections are one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity of patients with hydrocephalus. The aim of this research is to compare the bacterial colonization characteristics of a regular silicone elastomer shunt material coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone and dimethylpolysiloxane (silicone).
