In the education of foreign languages in the schools of Turkey, imported books are used as well as the local books. In the preparation of local books, the learning conditions of students, their interests and needs are considered, whereas the imported ones are prepared regarding a broader range without taking account of the differences between the target groups. However, the imported ones are preferred also in Turkey, as in many other countries, because of lots of reasons such as the printing quality, sales appeal, etc. As well as the debates of the efficiency of using the materials that are student-oriented, that consider the learning conditions of students are ongoing; the localization of imported books or the editions of them differing for countries has come into question. The processes that will be done for this purpose should be carried out according to certain criteria and by experts. Otherwise, there might be some difficulties in preparing the book in regard to helping students giving the predetermined knowledge and skills. In this study, the German lecture and practice book Passwort Deutsch's first volume of its Turkish edition is analyzed and with the data acquired, the results and suggestions are presented.
