Abstract

The field of counseling has been expanding over the globe in recent decades. Countries newly establishing the profession seem to adapt Western-originated theories and practices without sufficient alteration or modification to their local cultures. Turkey with its 70 years of experience with counseling is a significant example. In this paper, the need for integrating foreign theories, concepts, and practices into the local-host cultures will be discussed from social justice and de-colonialization point of view.
