Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of psychological status on frequency of injury in professional soccer players. Material and methods: The players of one of the teams of second league were included in this study. Injuries were recorded throughout the competitive season. Beck Depression Inventory and Continual Anxiety Scale were applied to all the players at the beginning, middle and end of the season. Results: Beck Depression Inventory points and Continual Anxiety Scale points were found different in the middle of the season in comparison with pre and postseason values (p<0.05). Number of injuries of soccer players showed an increase in the middle of the season. The players with higher scores from the questionnaires were injured more frequently (p<0.05). Conclusion: Psychological status of soccer players should be considered as a predisposal factor in terms of injury frequency.
