Abstract

During breast radiotherapy, the contralateral breast usually receives radiation dose from electron contamination and low energy photon scattering radiation to the skin and subcutaneous tissue. This study illustrates a simple but novel method for substantially reducing unwanted radiation dose with a layer of serrobendous armor that can be easily and accurately positioned on the patient's opposing breast during treatment.
