In this paper, maximum likelihood estimation technique is employed to consider the spectral statistics of nuclear systems in the nearest neighbor spacing distribution framework. With using the available empirical data, the spectral statistics of different sequences are analyzed. The ML-based estimated values propose more regular dynamics and also minimum uncertainties (variations very close to CRLB) in compare to other estimation methods. Also, the efficiencies of considered distribution functions are examined where suggest the least CRLB for Brody distribution. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
