A RESEARCH ON THE COMPARISON OF THE
EFFECTS FOR THE COMMON COMPULSORY COURSES ON ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE AND THE
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
ABSTRACT
The interest and
success of the students on compulsory courses which have been mandatory in
higher education for many years, are constantly being discussed and various
studies are being carried out and suggestions are made to increase the success.
Ataturk's Principles and Revolution History lesson aims to create a social
history awareness in common compulsory lessons, aiming to provide correct and
beautiful use of our mother tongue with Turkish Language lesson and trying to establish
the ability to communicate with at least one foreign language with Foreign
Language lesson. In this study, two departments selected from the Faculty of
Engineering and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Hacettepe University
and a vocational high school from Hacettepe University were selected as pilot
units. The students in this selected educational programs were asked various
questions about the common compulsory courses and tried to measure the success
status and the interest in the classes. Also the successes of associate’s
degree and und undergraduate students are compared. As a result of the studies
on the questionnaires, it is understood that there are many problems related to
common compulsory courses. At the beginning of these problems, these lessons
seem to be insignificant and sufficient interest cannot be achieved. In the
light of these and similar results, the opinions of the students about the
common compulsory courses should be evaluated by the competent institutions of
our state and should be tried to be solved by the supervisor, educator and
student collaboration evaluation studies.
