Özet

The purpose of this study is to describe information needs, behaviors and challenges of geographers, who have highest percentage of using geographic/geospatial data at designing a geographic information center. And a basis for further researches is formed as a second goal. Qualitative method was used for this work and an interview was carried out with scholars from Ankara University Department of Geography. Semi structured questions were asked to them and collected data was analyzed with content analysis method. Deduced from the interviews that geographers need geographic information centers for retrieving information they need, especially huge amounts of raw data. It was also concluded that there are big problems in sharing data among public agencies. Also this work presents significant information about geographic information centers for Turkey.
