Özet

probably, the most important parameter influencing overall strength and stability of surrounding rock mass in both surface and underground excavations opened in jointed rock mass is the shear behaviour of discontinuities. Therefore, parameters that affect the shear behaviour of discontinuities should be carefully studied for better understanding of the phenomenon of rock supporting. Roughness of discontinuities is closely related with the strength characteristics of joints and discontinuities.
