Abstract

The molecular structure of the title complex [ZnCl2(C7H6N2)(2)] was investigated by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. The Zn(II) complex crystallizes triclinically (P (1) over bar (no 2); a = 7.440(2) Angstrom, b = 7.734(2) Angstrom, c = 13.3127(4) Angstrom, alpha = 85.91(2)degrees, beta = 85.97(2)degrees, gamma = 83.05(5)degrees, Z = 3; V = 757.3(3) Angstrom(3)). In the molecular structure, the Zn atom is coordinated tetrahedrally by two Cl- anions and two benzimidazole ligands.
