Abstract

The concept of information literacy has long been debated in the literature. Because it means lots of things to lots of people, there has been a disagreement over the concept. There are numerous definitions of information literacy and the concept is still evolving. There is resultant ambiguity over the concept. The aim of this article is to clarify the main components of the concept throught an analysis of its various definitions, models, and standarts as well as other literacy concepts which are closely linked to information literacy.
