Abstract

The purpose of the study was to compare the effectiveness of Cyriax manipulative therapy (CMT) and tennis elbow band with physiotherapy alone for the treatment of lateral epicondylitis. it was assumed that recovery would be greater after 4 weeks and 6 weeks of these two protocols respectively. The experimental group (23 subjects) (with CMT, ice and the tennis elbow band) demonstrated significant improvement in pain (p<0.05) and range of motion (ROM) (p<0.05) of the affected arm compared to the control group (15 subjects) and a greater improvement in function indicating that this method facilitates recovery from lateral epicondylitis. Additional studies are needed to investigate long-term relief achieved with mobilization, (C) 2001, Editrice Kurtis.
