Özet

The introduction of capitalism into Turkish agriculture has been correlated with the economic policies of the Democratic Party being in power in 1950. Under the circumstance that rural population tended to increase, the three strategies of the Democratic Party in favour of the agriculture sector paved the way for capitalist relations for market-oriented. There is a consensus on the fact that the three strategies seemed to linked to each other, namely the opening of marginal land for production, the construction of highways and the mechanization started the shift from subsistence mode of production to the generalised commodity production by transforming pm-capitalist relations in favour of capitalist relations. In this study, the economic policies of the Democratic Party in the process of introducing capitalism to Turkish agriculture are evaluated from the perspectives of the functional role of rural labour power.
