Almost all physiotherapy applications are based on the principle of facilitation or inhibition of proprioceptive and cutaneous senses, by way of using appropriate techniques, which consequently results in the regulation of motor outputs. Stimulating proprioceptors, mechanoceptors and cutaneal receptors are used as a treatment in neurophysiologica-based physiotherapy. There are special stimulating techniques for every kind of receptor. Although proprioceptors and mechanoceptors have slow adaptation to a stimulus, cuteneal receptors have fast adaptation a stimulus. As a result, it is considered as a disadvantage for clinical applications.
