Evaluation and Comparison of
Students Success Rates on Common Compulsory Cources Under The Bologna Process
Tought in Different Vocational High School and Undergraduate Programs of
Hacettepe University
ABSTRACT
Student’s interests, attendance and success in common compulsory courses
(Turkish, English, Ataturk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution) in
our country are a long term matter of debate. Common compulsory courses play an
important role especiallyin the formation ofhistorical consciousness, using language
effectively and learning foreign language. Therefore, success rate of students
on these courses are important for increasing the productivity and motivation.
In this study, student’s success levels and motivations were evaluated with a
survey on common compulsory courses of Construction Technology Program, Map and
Cadastre Program, Computer Programming, Gas and Plumbing Technology Program
thought in Hacettepe University Polatlı Technical Sciences Vocational School. Results
were evaluated with related software and the validity of research hypotheses
was tested. Success rates determined in Hacettepe University Polatlı Technical
Sciences Vocational School were compared with Geomatics Engineering Program of
Engineering Faculty and Public Finance Program of Economics and Administrative
Sciences Faculty of Hacettepe University with the same survey. According to the
results, it can be concluded that success rates in these courses differs by
interest, educational status, motivation and expected benefits.
