Abstract

The Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form (FFBI-SF) is a self-report scale developed to assess traits associated with borderline personality disorder (BPD) within the framework of five-factor model of personality. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the FFBI-SF. A total of 461 individuals from Türkiye, aged 18–60 years (M = 23.27, SD = 7.59), completed the Turkish version of FFBI-SF along with the Demographic Information Form, the Big Five Inventory (BFI), and the Borderline Personality Questionnaire (BPQ). Confirmatory factor analysis indicated an acceptable fit according to RMSEA and SRMR, however, the CFI and TLI fell below conventional thresholds, indicating limitations in incremental fit. Reliability analyses revealed good internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha ranging from 0.67 to 0.91 across subscales and 0.96 for the total scale. The test–retest and split-half reliability coefficients further supported the measure’s reliability. Significant correlations between the BPQ and the BFI supported convergent validity. Overall, the findings indicated that the Turkish version of the FFBI-SF had acceptable psychometric properties, although aspects such as discriminant validity and factor distinctiveness warrant further examination.
