Abstract

This article aims to examine the Kadro Movement, which has an important lace in the political and intellectual life of the early Republican Era, with reference to the conceptual matrix developed by the renowned Italian thinker Antonio Gramsci in his Prison Notebooks. The Kadro Movement attempted to create around itself a hegemonic group of organic intellectuals who, acting as organizers of a modern culture and politics at the superstructural level, would develop the ideological framework of the newly established historic bloc. In this respect, the article attempts to offer an alternative perspective for a theoretical analysis of the Kadro Movement, based on Gramsci's conceptions of ideology, organic intellectuals, historic bloc, and hegemony.
