Abstract

Women’s entrepreneurship occupies a critical position due to the added value it generates in terms of social welfare, economic growth, and sustainability. Despite broad recognition of its importance, women often face persistent disadvantages rooted in gender-based stereotypes embedded in cultural norms, which weaken their intentions to enter or remain within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Difficulties in accessing resources and networks further undermine women’s self-confidence and perceptions of self-efficacy over time.

The rapid advancement and diffusion of digital technologies in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) are reshaping the dynamics of entrepreneurship. Although considerable attention has been paid to the potential benefits of digitalization, the extent to which digital technologies mitigate gender-based inequalities remains insufficiently explored. This study examines how digital technologies provide opportunities and support mechanisms that enable women to overcome barriers arising from gender stereotypes and to pursue entrepreneurial activities that generate sustainable value.

Drawing on a comprehensive review of recent scholarship, the study develops a conceptual framework outlining the positive contributions of digital technologies to women’s entrepreneurship. It is anticipated that the findings will contribute to both theoretical discussions and practical applications concerning the integration of digital technologies into women’s entrepreneurship and will stimulate further research in this domain.
