Abstract

Moxifloxacin and levofloxacin have been quantified in dilatation and curettage samples by reversed-phase LC. High recovery (> 91%) was obtained by simple and efficient solid-phase extraction. The method was validated in accordance with ICH guidelines to confirm specificity, linearity, accuracy, and precision. Response was a linear function of concentration over the range 0.010-30 mu g g(-1) with excellent correlation coefficients (> 0.997). Intra-day and inter-day precision and accuracy over the entire concentration range were less than 6.40 and 7.38%, respectively. Finally, the validated method was used for analysis of moxifloxacin and levofloxacin in dilatation and curettage material obtained from unwanted pregnancies up to 10 weeks gestation.
