Variations of Kahramanmaras Dialectical Data in <i>Derleme Sozlugu</i> (<i>Compilation of Turkish Words</i>) and Their Phonological Properties

Özet
To identify the geographical borders and continuum of dialects, a set of words needs to be prepared and this set should be tested in every possible region. Although we don't have this kind of data for Turkish today, some generalities can be reached with the words in Derleme Sozlugu. The aim of this article is to examine the dialectical data of Kahramanmaras in Derleme Sozlugu and to show whether the words represent the dialectical properties in the Kahramanmaras region or not. The dialectical data are classified as identicalness, similarity and differences. This kind of grouping indicates that some towns resemble each other in terms of identicalness, especially Afsin and Elbistan. The data from the Goksun region also show that the words from Goksun are common with the words from Afsin to a great extent. On the other hand, Kahramanmaras words resemble Afsin, Elbistan and Goksun words respectively. Some phonological properties of the collected data show dialectical differences in the Kahramanmaras region.
