Abstract

A patient with bilateral carotid body tumor who underwent a two-stage operation is presented. Diagnosis is based on bilateral selective carotid angiography. On the right side resection was easy, but on the left side, the internal carotid artery and hypoglossal nerve were resected, together with the tumor, and a reversed saphenous vein graft was used to permit the continuity of the internal carotid artery. Hypoglossal nerve reconstruction was done by a neurosurgery team. © 1995, Sage Publications. All rights reserved.
