Özet

The bimetallic Co-Fe oxide nanocomposites with different compositions (Co: Fe = 75:25, 50:50, 25:75) were prepared by nanosecond pulsed laser ablation in liquid (PLAL) in deionized water. The formed nanomaterials were oxidized at the surface to Co₃O₄ and Fe₃O₄ phases due to ablation in aqueous medium, as proven by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The structure was investigated by SEM-EDX and TEM, which validated nanoparticle production; Co nanoparticles averaged ~ 10 nm, while Fe structures presented a wider size distribution of spherical particles with an average diameter under 50 nm. XPS reveals configuration-assisted changes in Fe 2p and Co 2p peaks that imply a change in electronic structure. UV–Vis examination showed a rise in light absorption with the increase in the metal content, indicative of an arrangement-dependent optical behavior. The catalytic activity was tested for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol using NaBH4. The (50:50) nanocomposite exhibited the best catalytic efficiency with a rate constant of 0.00888 min− 1, which was higher than those of the 75:25 and 25:75 systems. The enhanced catalytic performance of the Co–Fe oxide nanocomposites may be associated with composition-dependent interactions between the Co- and Fe-containing phases, which could influence interfacial electron transfer and the availability of catalytically active sites.
