Spatial based information systems are simple to use systems
which facilitate localgovernment and municipality’s management and
organizational functions all over the world.Local authorities, municipalities
and private institutions are in need of address andnumerating information to
provide a quality service for the people in the urban environment.Today, some
complex organizational and planning problems are appearing for addressinformation
design because the urban information required is spread over several, differingurban
areas. Using digital photogrammetric maps as base maps, it is considered
spatial basedaddress information systems can cope with all address and
numerating problems for localgovernment.Video cameras can be used effectively
at the data collecting stage which is one of the basiccomponents of information
systems along with an updating process that must be sound,speedy and reliable.
In this study, a pilot area in the Kavaklıdere district / Kennedy Avenue ofthe
province of Ankara was selected as a case study site. First, the importance of
spatial basedinformation systems is mentioned. Then some technical details and
field experience regardingthe use of video cameras are dealt with. Next, data
collection techniques, such as videocameras, are considered for the management
of spatial based address information systems inmaking correct, sound address
and numerating planning in urban areas.
