Turkish adaptation of emotion regulation skills questionnaire-emotion specific: The study of reliability and validity

Özet

Objective: The aim of this study was to bring one of the emotional regulation measurements to Turkish Language. For this, we evaluated validity and reliability of the Emotion Regulation Skills Questionnaire-Emotion Specific in a Turkish sample. Method: In total 514 university students (295 female and 219 male) participated and completed Emotion Regulation Skills Questionnaire-Emotion Specific, Emotion Regulation Skills Questionnaire, and SCL-90. Results: In the reliability study, the Cronbach alphas for different emotions sub-scales were between .86 and .92. Most of the item total correlations were higher than .30. Additionally, in the validity study the whole scale and subscales were revealed high correlations with each other and variables used for criterion validity. Discussion: To sum up, the results suggest that the validity and reliability of the Turkish form of Emotion Regulation Skills Questionnaire -Emotion Specific was at a satisfactory level.
