Abstract

Due to the interaction between host response and plaque microorganisms, failure in efficient plaque control often leads to periodontal problems. Although inflammation is usually present, the extent and severity of the gingival inflammatory response may vary and in certain cases may be aggravated by a variety of local and/or systemic factors. In this article, the diagnostic process and the outcome of conventional periodontal treatment in a young female patient with severe gingival inflammation is presented. © 2010 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
