Abstract

We have simulated the q = 3 state Potts model in three dimensions and examined the time evolutions of oriented clusters formed following a rapid temperature quench. We have studied the phase conversion mechanism after a deep temperature quench and concluded that it is spinodal decomposition while a rather shallow quench to temperatures near the phase transition point proceeds through usual nucleation.
