Özet

Ready-to-consume food and drink products become preferable with changing world. Consumers increasingly desire to meet their needs in a shorter time. As a result, vending machines have a growing use in public places such as hospitals, schools, subways, public facilities, offices, etc.. Besides being a fast alternative to traditional shops and restaurants, easy accessibility of vending machines contribute to social sustainability by satisfying needs of people, since they can be set to places where no other services particularly for food and drink products are available in a close range. Also, the delivery operations of these machines rapidly generate carbon emissions, which necessitates an efficient delivery plan that limits the negative contribution to environmental sustainability. Together with the economic returns to the machine-owner companies, replenishment decisions of vending machines are important for all three pillars of sustainability. In this study, we address a stochastic inventory replenishment problem for vending machines while respecting economic, environmental and social sustainability concerns. The problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Programming model. We also present a computational example that demonstrates the applicability of the proposed model.
