OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN MENTAL HEALTH, 2025 (ESCI, Scopus)
This study aimed to develop and validate the Dynamic Metacognitive Interoception Measure (DMIM), a 36-item caregiver-report tool assessing interoceptive functioning in early childhood. The DMIM was administered to 479 children, including 406 typically developing and 73 with autism spectrum disorder. Exploratory factor analysis supported a five-factor solution explaining 71.18% of the total variance. Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and discriminative validity were high, with area under the curve (AUC) of .969. The findings suggest that the DMIM is a reliable and developmentally appropriate instrument for identifying early interoceptive differences, with potential utility in early detection, clinical assessment, and intervention planning.
